King-Smith died at his home near Bath, Somerset, on 4 January 2011 at the age of 88.
Dick King-Smith was a prolific English children’s author, best known for writing The Sheep-Pig, retitled in the United States as Babe the Gallant Pig, on which the movie Babe was based. He was awarded an Honorary Master of Education degree by the University of the West of England in 1999 and appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire in the 2010 New Year Honours.

Edwards died of metastatic breast cancer on Tuesday, December 7, 2010, at home in Chapel Hill, surrounded by friends and family.
Elizabeth Anania Edwards was an attorney, a best-selling author and a health care activist. She was married to John Edwards, the former U.S. Senator from North Carolina who was the 2004 United States Democratic vice-presidential nominee.
In the final decade of her life, Elizabeth Edwards publicly dealt with her husband’s admission of an extramarital affair and her own breast cancer, writing two books and making numerous media appearances. She separated from John Edwards in early 2010. On December 6, 2010, her family announced that her cancer had spread and her doctors had recommended that further treatment would be unproductive. She died the following day.
